Meridian man sentenced for intent to distribute meth

A Meridian man and member of the Simon City Royals gang was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison on Wednesday for distributing methamphetamine in Lauderdale County, announced U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Special Agent in Charge Joshua Jackson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Court documents show 45-year-old Jeremy Lovell was in possession of 630 grams of methamphetamine as well as two firearms when law enforcement executed a search warrant at his home on May 3, 2022. Further investigation revealed Lovell distributed more than 104 pound of methamphetamine in Lauderdale County between 2020 and 2022.

Lovell also had previous convictions for burglary and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. He was sentenced to serve 262 months in prison.

The case was investigated by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, East Mississippi Drug Task Force, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and the ATF.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam T. Stuart prosecuted the case.
