The Meridian Police Department is investigating a Friday evening shooting that left a man dead.

The shooting happened in the 1900 block of 17th Avenue, according to MPD Sgt. Dareall Thompson, who said it appeared to be an isolated incident.

“It wasn’t random,” he said.
