Hayes, who works at Sequel Electrical Supply, is a volunteer with Meridian Main Street, an active member of her church, and a proud mother and grandmother.

Hayes has three grown children, Erin, Will, and Emma, and three grandchildren, 5-year-old Noah, 5-year-old Caleb, and 12-year-old Mary Evans.

Hayes said she feels lucky to have all three of her grandchildren right here in Meridian where she can see them often, and called being a grandmother, “absolutely the greatest thing in the world.”

Hayes has been a volunteer with Meridian Main Street for the past two years, helping with events like Meridian Mardi Gras, the Art Crawl, and the Candy Crawl, where she served in the role of “cupcake diva” last year.

Hayes helps with the setup of events, the organization, and she said, “just doing whatever needs to be done.”

Hayes is also chairman of the classic movie series at the Temple Theater.

She started volunteering with downtown events, she said, “because I love downtown Meridian. It’s very important for Meridian downtown to stay active and for people to enjoy downtown.”

In addition to working to revitalize downtown, Hayes enjoys being a very active member of her church, the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, where she was recently elected to the Vestry.
