A 22-year-old Meridian man faces charges for exploiting a vulnerable adult under his care and stealing items from the elderly woman’s home.
Meridian police charged Justice Griffin with vulnerable adult abuse and grand larceny following an investigation into Griffin after the victim’s bank called her about suspicious activity on her account.
“He was a caretaker for the victim,” Sgt. Dareall Thompson said. “She put her trust in him and while she was putting her trust in him he was taking advantage of her.”
Thompson said thousands of dollars worth of items, including electronics and medication, had been taken from the victim.
The woman had apparently hired Griffin to run errands for herĀ and to take her to doctors appointments, Thompson said.
Bond for Griffin has been set at $100,000, or $50,000 for each charge. Thompson said Griffin should have a preliminary hearing Monday and then his case will be presented before the next available grand jury.
