The Lauderdale County School District board on Thursday approved its calendar for the 2019-2020 school year.

Teachers will start school on Aug. 1, 2 and 5 with professional development days. The first day of school for students will be on Aug. 6. On Sept. 2, schools and offices will be closed for Labor Day.

Fall break for students will be Oct. 7 and 8, with teachers and staff off on Oct. 7 but returning on Oct. 8 for professional development. 

Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 25-29 and Christmas break will be Dec. 23- Jan. 3, 2020. 

After Christmas, teachers will return to school on Jan. 6 and 7, 2020 with students returning on Jan. 8, 2020. Schools and offices will be closed on Jan. 2, 2020 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and on on Feb. 17, 2020 for President’s Day. Spring break will be March 9-13, 2020. On Good Friday, which is April 10, 2020, schools and offices will be closed.

Graduation will be May 14,15,18 and 19, 2020. The last day for students will be May 21, 2020 and May 22, 2020 will be the last day for teachers.
