Drug Task Force makes two arrests

The East Mississippi Drug Task Force announced two arrests following a search warrant Tuesday in Meridian.
Officers with the Task Force, along with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, served the warrant in the 1800 block of 29th Avenue at around 6:45 a.m., according to a news release from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department. During the search, officers seized methamphetamine, heroin and an AR-style pistol.
Rodney Powell, 50, and Undreal L. Hayes, 41, were arrested and booked into Lauderdale County Detention Center. Powell is charged with trafficking in narcotics and has a bond set at $100,000. He is also facing violation of probation.
Hayes is charged with possession of methamphetamine while in possession of a firearm and possession of heroin while in possession of a firearm. His bond is set at $150,000.
An investigation is ongoing, LCSD said in the release, and additional charges are possible.
