Divas on the Run, a community-based running group, presented the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi a check in the amount of $10,000 last week.

    Divas Founder Felecia Brown said they chose the Boys and Girls Club as their charity of choice because the club services a lot of areas where the money is needed.

    School Liaison Linda Lavalais said the donation will do great things for the school.

    “Our summer program is extensive and we are going to take this contribution and use if for after-school programs because after-school is the biggest impact,” Lavalais said. “We are very grateful that the Divas contribution committee chose us.”

    Close to 300 people participated in the Divas on The Run event at Highland Park on June 20. Brown said the goal for next year is to have 500 participants in the run.
