Anderson announces new executive roles

Anderson Regional Health System in Meridian has announced two promotions within the system. Steven Brown has been named Chief Financial Officer for Anderson Regional Health System, and Betty Young-Cryer, RN, MSN, NE-BC, CRRN has been named Chief Nursing Officer for the System.

Steven Brown has served as Vice President of Finance since September 2015. Prior to this position, Brown served as Controller and Accounting Director of the organization. Brown has worked in the accounting field for 25 years, including five years at Riley Hospital, now Anderson Regional Medical Center- South.

Brown is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Mississippi. He began his education at Meridian Community College and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi. Brown is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants, Medical Group Management Association, and Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Cryer’s new position as Chief Nursing Officer of Anderson Regional Health System follows her role as Anderson- South’s Chief Nursing Officer and Administrator. Cryer began her nursing career in 1975 at Riley Hospital, now Anderson Regional Medical Center- South. She has held numerous positions during her tenure including Staff Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, and Acute Medical Clinical Director. Cryer also served as Director of Riley Home Health Services early in her career.

“With over 40 years of experience, Betty’s leadership is tremendously valuable,” Anderson said. “Her relationships with our nursing staff and physicians are built on a commitment to provide the highest quality care to our patients, and she displays fairness and respect in all decisions. “Betty’s dedication to not only this organization, but most importantly to patient care, is evident in everything she does.”

Cryer received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Meridian Community College. She continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Executive Nursing Administration. Cryer is a Board Certified Nurse Executive and Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse. She is a member of American Nursing Association, Mississippi Hospital Nurse Executives, Mississippi Nurses Association (Vice President District 16), Eliza Pillars Registered Nurses of Mississippi (Past President), American Rehabilitation Nurses, and Mississippi Nursing Foundation (Board of Directors).
