Make plans to visit the Mississippi Children’s Museum–Meridian on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for Dr. Seuss’ Silly Birthday Celebration presented by Junior Auxiliary of Meridian.
A beloved event by museum guests, MCM-Meridian looks forward to welcoming visitors from across the region to celebrate world-renowned children’s author Dr. Seuss, the pen name of Theodor Seuss Geisel. Under the pen name, Geisel wrote and illustrated more than 60 books as Dr. Seuss.
For Dr. Seuss’ Silly Birthday Celebration, crafts and readings of popular Dr. Seuss books will be enjoyed throughout the day with special guests. Favorite characters from his books, including Thing 1, Thing 2, Cat in the Hat and The Lorax, will make an appearance and engage with guests. At noon, cheers will erupt as everyone sings the birthday song, enjoys tasty birthday cake and parades in a horn band through the museum.
An annual celebration, the event aims to inspire a love of reading and learning in children as they immerse themselves in the imaginative works of Dr. Seuss. Prior to Saturday’s event, MCM-Meridian will host a limited number of students for a special Field Trip Friday opportunity on Feb. 23.
Costumes are encouraged for Dr. Seuss’ Silly Birthday Celebration. All activities are included in general admission and museum membership. For more information, visit mcmmeridian.org.
