Worship Site Profile: Hebron Baptist Church

The weather was unseasonably cold for a late October Sunday morning, but on that grey clouded day, Hebron Baptist Church was birthed into existence with 23 members present at the Jackson schoolhouse that sat along the road leading to Causeyville. The land rolled up and over a little knoll and faded quickly down a steep grade into the valley below — it just looked like the place God would meet with His children at the appointed time.
Brother J.W. Ellis presided over that first meeting and weeks later Brother Charles Elliott was called as the first pastor with an annual salary of $200. The church has had 28 pastors over these years with the longest tenure being nearly 20 years by Bro. Tommy Jones. Our current pastor, Doc Wallace, has been with us nearly eight years.
Through the years the membership has changed to some degree, but the members have always been community conscious and in full support of Southeast schools. Hebron is a small community church filled with people who love and demonstrate Christian hospitality.
Today, the church is still carrying out the mission of the Lord and supporting the missionary causes of the SBC. On Wednesday night we have a van that picks up children — so if you need to call the church. Our doors are always open and we invite you to come and worship with us. We will treat you so many ways—you bound to like one of them.
