Former Meridian High School defensive lineman Raekwon Davis was named to the Associated Press’ Preseason All-American second-team, according to a list released Tuesday.

Davis, a junior at Alabama, finished the 2017 season with 60 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss, which ranked him third on the Crimson Tide. He also finished with a team-high 8.5 sacks, good for fifth in the SEC. In the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, Davis had five tackles, one sack and returned an interception 19 yards to help the Crimson Tide win its fifth title in nine seasons.
