A Meridian woman is in custody following a search warrant served Friday afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation by the East Mississippi Drug Task Force. According to a news release from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, members of the LCSD SWAT team served the search warrant in the 600 block of Azalea Drive at 1:15 p.m. Based on the results of the search, and the EMDTF investigation, which was assisted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, deputies arrested Nelcine Rouse Mathis and charged her with multiple felony crimes. Mathis is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and sale of methamphetamine within 1,500 feet of a church or playground. LCSD, in the release, said Mathis was previously out on bond on a felony burglary charge. The sale of methamphetamine charge carries a possible sentence of more than five years, so she will not be eligible to be released on bond again. Bond for the two possession charges was set at $25,000 for each charge. Investigators plan to present the case to the next available grand jury.
