For the tenth straight season West Lauderdale clinches a home playoff game.

Behind the always potent rushing attack the Knights raced past Choctaw Central 40-14 in a key Region 4-4A contest Friday night.

West Lauderdale clinches at least one home playoff game with the win. The Knights (6-3, 3-0 Region 4-4A) face rival Newton County on Friday for the district championship.

“It’s great that we’re guaranteed at least one home playoff game, and it’s good for our team and community,” said West Lauderdale coach Brock Clay.

Travion Mosley had 148 yards rushing on seven carries with two touchdowns to lead the Knights’ rushing attack. Kayden Peoples went 4-for-4 passing for 79 yards with a touchdown and had four rushes for 48 yards and two touchdowns for West Lauderdale.

The Knights rushed for a total of 348 yards.

Lamar School 47, East Rankin 14

Khari Towner had 114 yards rushing on 16 carries with two touchdowns to lead the Raiders past the Patriots on Friday and spoil East Rankin’s homecoming.

With the win Lamar School (6-4, 3-1 MAIS District 2-5A) will be the No. 7 seed and will host defending MAIS Class 5A state champion Adams Christian in the first round of the MAIS Class 5A playoffs on Friday.

Ashton Jones had 139 yards rushing on 14 carries with a touchdown for the Raiders.

“Very proud of our kids for taking care of business and finishing 6-4 and 3-1 in district,” said Lamar School coach Jacob Land. “I feel like we have a lot of momentum going 4-1 in the last five games.”

Petal 35, Meridian 19

Corey McCann went 18-of-29 passing for 252 yards with two touchdowns to lead Meridian, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers (6-3, 2-1 Region 3-7A) used a strong running game to get past the Wildcats (4-5, 0-3) in Region 3-7A play.

Purvis 57, Northeast Lauderdale 46

Moses Cummings rushed 26 times for 224 yards and four touchdowns as the Tornadoes outlasted the Trojans in a shootout.

Jase Jimison went 12-of-20 passing for 179 yards with a touchdown and rushed 20 times for 81 yards and three touchdowns to lead Northeast Lauderdale (2-7).

Noxubee County 52, Southeast Lauderdale 0

Four-star quarterback and Mississippi State commit Kamario Taylor went 12-of-20 passing for 230 yards with six touchdowns to lead the Noxubee Tigers (6-2, 3-0 Region 5-3A) over the Southeast Tigers (2-7, 1-2) in Region 5-3A play.

Heidelberg 70, Clarkdale 7

Chase Craft went 8-of-12 passing for 325 yards with five touchdowns and rushed seven times for 94 yards and a score to lead the Oilers (8-1) over the Bulldogs.

Jake Lee passed for 116 yards and a touchdown to lead Clarkdale (2-7).
