Meridian Police Department announced a suspect was in custody Wednesday in an August shooting that left one person dead.

Tyrese Thomas is charged with murder in the death of Tyrone Rush, who was shot and killed in the 2600 block of Highland Avenue on Aug. 3, the department said in a news release. Thomas is also charged with shooting into a dwelling in connection with an incident that took place in the 4400 block of Highland Avenue on Aug. 29.

According to MPD, bond for Thomas was set at $1 million for the murder charge and $50,000 for shooting into a dwelling. His total bond is $1,050,000.
