MCCers bring home gold from state PBL contest

Four Meridian Community College Phi Beta Lambda-Information Systems Technology (PBL-IST) students brought home first place awards from the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda state conference held at the Mississippi University for Women.

Team members also won five silver and one bronze from the state competition.

Winners were Rhigel Williams, first place, computer concepts and first place, information management; Anthony Dangelo, first place, cyber; and second place, help desk; James “Tripp” Tillman, first place, help desk, and third place, cyber; Courtney Velez-Guerrero, first place network concepts, and fourth place, programming concepts; Robert Grundhoefer, second place, computer concepts, and fourth place, programming concepts; Parker Nelson, second place, project management, and second place, information management; and Christinia Coon, four place, project management.

At the state leadership conferences, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference each summer. This year’s national conference will be June 23-26 in Baltimore, Maryland.
