A list of athletes who have committed to the league is expected later this year.
Romanian court finds irregularities in prosecutors’ case against Andrew Tate
BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — A court in Romania has ruled that prosecutors’ indictment against influencer Andrew Tate contains multiple irregularities. It gives them less than a week to amend or withdraw the case of alleged human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. The ruling by the Bucharest Court of Appeal is a major setback for Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, which must act within five days. Tate and his lawyer are celebrating. Tate has denied all the allegations.
51-year-old man is charged with murder after 3 are stabbed in New York City rampage
NEW YORK (AP) — A man who officials say carried out a string of stabbings across a swath of Manhattan has been charged with three counts of murder. Fifty-one-year-old Ramon Rivera is awaiting arraignment Tuesday. A message seeking comment was left with an attorney who represented him in a prior case. Then a 68-year-old man was attacked and killed while fishing in the East River. And a 36-year-old woman died in a hospital after being stabbed near the U.N. headquarters.

4 monkeys remain free nearly 2 weeks after dozens escaped a South Carolina compound
YEMASSEE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say four monkeys remain free nearly two weeks after a group of 43 escaped from a South Carolina compound that breeds them for medical research. Alpha Genesis chief executive Greg Westergaard says in a statement relayed by police that two more rhesus macaques were recaptured Monday outside the company’s facility. The monkeys made a break for it Nov. 6 after an employee didn’t fully lock their enclosure. Alpha Genesis says the recaptured monkeys are in good health. Westergaard says efforts to catch the remaining escaped monkeys will continue Tuesday. He says they are probably all together in the area next to the company’s property or very close by.
The White House’s Christmas tree is a symbol of resilience for hurricane-hit North Carolina farms
NEWLAND, N.C. (AP) — The White House’s Christmas tree is slated to be cut and transported from a North Carolina farm on Wednesday. Cartner’s Christmas Tree Farm is located in Avery County, North Carolina. It was one of the hardest-hit counties from Hurricane Helene just a few months before. The farm experienced some road damage and lost between 5,000 to 6,000 smaller trees in a mudslide. But one of the owners, Sam Cartner Jr., says that other Christmas tree farmers had it much worse than his family’s farm. He hopes the White House tree can be an inspiring symbol for western North Carolina.
School closures and travel delays as Arctic air brings snow and sleet to parts of the UK
LONDON (AP) — Dozens of schools were closed and road and train travel ground to a halt as a cold snap brought snow, ice and sleet across parts of the UK. The country’s Met Office issued snow and ice warnings due to an Arctic maritime air mass across the north. Around 200 schools were reported to have closed their gates, while thousands of commuters suffered disruption to their journeys as dozens of train services were cancelled or delayed. The Met weather forecaster said up to 5 centimeters, or 2 inches, of snow is likely to blanket many parts of the country, with up to 20 centimeters expected to accumulate in higher altitudes.
Arthur Frommer, travel guide innovator, has died at 95
NEW YORK (AP) — Travel writer Arthur Frommer, who revolutionized leisure travel for ordinary Americans with his guidebook “Europe on 5 Dollars a Day,” has died. He was 95. His daughter Pauline Frommer said Monday he died from complications of pneumonia. Frommer self-published the first “Europe on 5 Dollars a Day” in 1957. It was an expanded version of a guide he’d written for American soldiers stationed overseas. It became an immediate best-seller. He told Americans to skip five-star hotels and seek out modest, family-run places where ordinary Europeans stayed when they traveled. Frommer’s advice coincided with the rise of fast, affordable jet travel.
Texans never trail while handing Cowboys 5th straight loss, 34-10
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Joe Mixon ran for three touchdowns, Derek Barnett returned a fumble 28 yards for a score and the Houston Texans beat the Dallas Cowboys 34-10. The Texans stopped just the second two-game losing streak in quarterback C.J. Stroud’s two seasons while maintaining a two-game lead in the AFC South. In a season filled with things gone wrong for the Cowboys, debris fell from their stadium’s retractable roof as it was opening a few hours before the game. Dallas lost its fifth consecutive game, and Cooper Rush dropped to 0-2 filling in for Dak Prescott after his season-ending hamstring tear.
Debris falls from roof at home of Cowboys before game against Texans; no injuries reported
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Officials say a piece of the roof at the home of the Dallas Cowboys fell to the field while the retractable portion of it was being opened at least three hours before a game against Houston. AT&T Stadium was mostly empty when the incident occurred, and team officials said nobody was injured. The roof was closed without incident about an hour later. Officials say winds gusting to 30 mph during the day contributed to the incident. The roof hasn’t been opened for a Cowboys game since the 2022 season.
