Authorities are investigating a Tuesday afternoon armed robbery in Meridian.

Police responded to the robbery at 12:34 p.m. on the 5200 block of 5th Street, said MPD Chief Benny Dubose. 

A woman was getting out of her car when a man with a gun approached her and forced her to get on the ground, then went through her vehicle, Dubose said. The suspect is described as a tall black male driving a white vehicle. Those with any information about the robbery are encouraged to call East Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 1-855-485-8477.
