Meridian woman convicted of insurance, wire fraud

A Meridian woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of insurance fraud and two counts of wire fraud and will serve five years for selling home and auto insurance without a license.

Sylvia Lynn Dickinson, 34, was sentenced by 10th Circuit Court Judge Robert T. “Bo” Bailey for 16 years, with five to serve and 11 suspended. Dickinson sold insurance to her victims, kept the money for her own use and victims were never insured.

Bailey ordered that Dickinson never work in the insurance business in any fashion or at any location. 

Dickinson will be in supervised probation for five years and must pay $70,155 in restitution to multiple victims as well as $831 in court costs and assessments, $1,000 to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund and $500 for investigative costs to the Attorney General’s Office.
