Newton Police Chief Harvey Curry

City of Newton leaders fired Police Chief Harvey Curry on Tuesday during an aldermen’s meeting.

“His employment was terminated by the board… He was given the option to resign and he chose not to resign,” city attorney Brian Mayo said.

Several calls for comment and to find the reason for the termination were not returned by Mayor Murray Weems and other city leaders.
