FOOTBALL ROUNDUP (Sept. 24, 2021): Kemper County wins big at Southeast; West Lauderdale beats Philadelphia

Kemper County quarterback Aaron Steele finished with four total touchdowns as the Wildcats raced past Southeast Lauderdale 47-7 in Friday night prep football action at Southeast Lauderdale.

Steele finished 8 of 11 for 75 yards and a touchdown passing, and he also rushed 10 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns. On special teams, Steele had a 60-yard kickoff return for his fourth touchdown, and he also caught an interception on defense.

Running back Dicenzo Miller rushed eight times for 108 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats, and defensive back Heaven Coleman had three pass breakups and two interceptions for Kemper County.

Kemper County (3-2) is scheduled to host Lake Friday.

WEST LAUDERDALE 55, PHILADELPHIA 20

JJ Grant rushed 14 times for 261 yards and three touchdowns for West Lauderdale as the Knights won big at Philadelphia Friday.

Caleb Collins added 121 yards and a touchdown on just six carries for the Knights, and Wyatt Castle rushed two times for 18 yards and a score. Quarterback Jackson Parker finished 9 of 15 for 99 yards and two touchdowns passing, and freshman Ridge Brown was 3-for-4 for 55 yards and a score passing.

Cooper Luke had four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown for West Lauderdale, and Altonio Ratcliff caught two passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. Defensively for the Knights, Dylan Brown had 11 tackles and two tackles for loss, and Jordan Nix finished with three tackles. Jordan Gowdy tallied 11 tackles, and Carson Smith finished with six tackles, one for a loss. Commondre Cole, Dalton Bishop and Eli Bates each had one tackle for loss, with Bates tallying 10 total tackles, and Chris Griffith had two tackles for loss.

West Lauderdale (4-1) is scheduled to host Leake Central Friday, while Philadelphia (2-3) is scheduled to play at Mize Friday.

CLARKDALE 56, SACRED HEART 21

Clarkdale finished with 360 rushing yards on 36 attempts and 84 passing yards on six attempts as Clarkdale rolled against Sacred Heart Friday.

Mason Horne tallied 53 yards and a touchdown on five carries and also had a 42-yard touchdown reception for the Bulldogs. Drake Shirley rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Quarterback Cal Culpepper went 3 of 6 for 84 yards and a touchdown passing and also finished with 94 yards and two touchdowns on five rushes.

Lance Rawson had 56 yards and a touchdown on six rushes, and Landon Belk finished with two catches for 37 yards for Clarkdale. Cade Hopkins had a 70-yard kickoff return for the Bulldogs, and defensively, Belk finished with four tackles, two sacks and one quarterback hurry, while Horne tallied five tackles and one pass breakup. 

Cade Hopkins and Gavin Farmer each finished with four tackles for Clarkdale, and Hawk Allen and Parker Webb both tallied seven tackles, while Isaiah Brown led with eight tackles. Ricky Higgenbotham had three pass breakups for the Bulldogs.

Clarkdale (5-0) is scheduled to play at Forest Friday.

ENTERPRISE 42, QUITMAN 19

Zee Sims finished with 142 yards and three touchdowns rushing on 10 attempts for Enterprise as the Bulldogs defeated Quitman Friday.

Gavin Dear added 67 yards and two touchdowns rushing for Enterprise, and Parks Burt finished with 108 yards on 13 carries, while Trace Roy had 73 yards on 10 rushes.

Quarterback Derryon Grey was 1-for-1 for 34 yards passing and also rushed four times for 20 yards. Blake Wilkins had the 34-yard reception for Enterprise. Defensively, Isaiah Baum had 10 tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss, while Roy finished with six tackles and Dear tallied seven tackles. Wilkins also had a sack for the Bulldogs.

Enterprise (4-0) is scheduled to play at Morton Friday.
