More infrastructure work is on the horizon as Lauderdale County supervisors on Monday awarded a bank stabilization project and approved an emergency road repair.
The Board of Supervisors voted to accept a bid of $240,038.25 from Innovative Performance Construction Co. for a project addressing eroding creek banks at Magnolia Middle School. The eroding banks threaten a nearby fence installed on the property.
In a Thursday work session, Road Manager Rush Mayatt said Innovative Performance Construction Co. is a large construction firm based out of Jackson. The company was the lowest of five bids received.
Mayatt on Monday also told the board the road department had to make an emergency road closure on Point Wanita Lake Road last Friday. Crews were expected to head back to the site Monday to place additional signs and make some repairs, he said.
“We’re going back in this morning trying to update some signage and improve all of it, but we’re also trying to make some emergency repairs just to open the road back up,” he said.
