Motorists traveling along Old Country Club East may need to temporarily adjust their routes as an emergency repair is planned to begin later this week.
Marion Mayor Larry Gill on Tuesday said a pipe under the roadway has collapsed and must be replaced. The site, which is between Hillview and North Pointe apartment complexes, will require the road be shut down for several weeks as crews excavate and replace the collapsed pipe, he said.
Old Country Club Road East is the boundary between the City of Meridian and Town of Marion, and both the road and damaged pipe belong to Meridian, Gill said. Marion, however, does have water and sewer lines that run through that spot.
“Our main sewer line and main water line is right there in the middle, and it’s exposed,” he said. “They’re saying we’re going to have to do some type of bypass for that little area to get around that area while they work.”
