East Central Community College’s swimmer Gabrielle Baldwin made waves at the 2025 NJCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, held from March 5-8 at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, New York. Baldwin’s remarkable performance earned her a place in the record books as the fastest junior college swimmer in Mississippi history.
Baldwin’s historic achievement includes becoming the first Mississippi junior college swimmer ever to win an NJCAA medal. Her stellar performances throughout the competition resulted in more medals than any other Mississippi swimmer and the highest-ranking medal ever secured by a Mississippi swimmer at the NJCAA championships.
In the women’s 50-yard freestyle, Baldwin placed 8th with a time of 25.32 seconds. She also secured sixth place in the women’s 50-yard butterfly with a time of 26.43 seconds. Baldwin added a seventh-place finish in the women’s 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.61 and claimed fifth place in the women’s 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 54.60 seconds.
Individuals were only allowed to compete in four events total, making Baldwin’s achievements even more impressive. Baldwin’s consistent performance across these multiple events earned more points individually than any other swimmer in the competition.
