The Friends of the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library announced the winner Friday of a book raffle organized to raise funds supporting the library’s programs. The organization sold tickets for a chance to win a signed copy of Natasha Trethewey’s new book, “The House of Being.”
Trethewey, a native of Gulfport, is a former Pulitzer Prize winning poet and former United States Poet Laureate and has authored five books of poetry. She was one of five new members inducted into The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience Hall of Fame in January, joining other notable Mississippians whose contributions to the arts have made a lasting impact on the state and nation.
The book was won by Russell Christian Academy’s Library.
