After canceling classes or moving to online learning Tuesday, area schools are announcing they will resume normal schedules Wednesday after forecasted winter weather failed to appear.

Matt Davis, director of public relations for Meridian Public School District, said in a news release the district plans to operate regularly Wednesday with busses running on normal schedules.

“Please make sure to dress warm and in layers,” he said.

Both Meridian Community College and Mississippi State University Meridian will resume normal schedules as well.

Lauderdale County School District will also hold classes Wednesday but will start later than regularly scheduled. In a statement, Superintendent John-Mark Cain said school will begin at 9 a.m. due to potential road conditions and other cold weather issues that may cause delays.

Decisions on whether to hold afterschool activities at LCSD’s four campuses will be made at the school level, Cain said.
