Mississippi State Regent Billie Breedlove was guest speaker at the September meeting of Samuel Dale Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Breedlove discussed the DAR’s 125th anniversary and stressed chapter legacy, historic preservation, getting new members, education and patriotism.
Breedlove’s State Regent’s project is to provide Mississippi’s DAR-owned home, Rosalie, in Natchez a “face lift” and to repair a column. The front and back of Rosalie has been painted. Samuel Dale regent Glenda Thomas presented Breedlove a miniature version of the carousel in front of city hall.
The Sept. 2, 2015, was called to order at 10 a.m. by Thomas. Acting chaplain Caroline Wilson assisted Thomas with the opening ritual. Janet Sinyard led the Pledge of Allegiance and Thomas led the salute to the Mississippi Flag.
The hostesses invited members and guests to enjoy refreshments. After which the regent welcomed guests from the Pushmataha MSSDAR Chapter – Regent Kay Wolfe, Sue Thompson, Nell McMullen, Louise Williams, Shawn West Strait, Lisa Holland, Shirley O. Stodard and Mary Billips.
The President General’s Message was presented by Thomas.
Caroline Wilson gave the National Defense Report. Lynn Selman made a motion to dispense with the chapter reports. The motion was seconded and passed.
Thomas reminded the Samuel Dale members that club’s next meeting is Oct. 7. She thanked the hostesses, Caroline Wilson, Ethel McHenry, Bettye Compton and Frances Olander.
