Prep football roundups: Lamar rolls past Hartfield

Lamar School scored all of its points in the first two quarters and cruised to a 42-0 win against Hartfield Academy in Friday night prep football action.

Davis Harrison ran for two touchdowns and threw to J.T. McClelland for another. McClelland had a rushing touchdown as well, as did Sam Vaughn and Clay Truelove.

Lamar (7-2, 2-1) has a bye week next week and will play at Madison-Ridgeland Academy Oct. 30 for the regular-season finale.

CALVARY 44, MT. SALUS 14

Trey Alford ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries as Calvary Christian School rolled past Mt. Salus in Friday night MAIS 8-man football action.

Alford had scoring runs of 62 and 44 yards for the Cougars. Quarterback Caleb Tanner had a standout game, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for two more. He had 12 carries for 126 yards and scoring runs of 36 and 54 yards.

Alton Cooley I caught a touchdown pass for 59 yards, and Alton Cooley II had one for 36 yards.

On defense, Danny Miller led the Cougars with 16 tackles.

Calvary (2-7) will host Macon Central at 7:30 p.m. next Friday for homecoming.

KEMPER ACADEMY 56, CENTRAL ACADEMY 6

Dalton Sanderford went 6 for 6 in passing for 111 yards as the Rams remained undefeated in MAIS 8-man football action Friday.

In the first quarter, Bailey Luke had a touchdown run for 4 yards, Trent Lightner had a scoring carry for 46 yards and Michael Hull hauled in a 23-yard scoring reception.

In the second quarter, Lightner scored twice more on a 3-yard carry and a 41-yard catch to put KA ahead 40-0 at the half.

The Rams scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter on runs by Trevor Clark and Luke of 36 yards and 48 yards, respectively.

Luke finished with 95 yards rushing, and Lightner added 70 yards rushing. Defensively, Shane Castleberry had eight tackles, and Lightner added six tackles.

KA (9-0, 2-0) has a bye week next week and will host Hebron Christian Oct. 30.

UNION 24, CLARKDALE 14

Two late touchdowns in the second quarter was too much for Clarkdale High School to overcome as Union High School rolled to another district win Friday.

Tradarius Harris scored first for the Yellowjackets on an 8-yard carry with 9:21 remaining in the first half. With 2:45 to go, Harris scored again from 37 yards out, and with 16 seconds before the half, he connected with Jevon Williams for a 32-yard scoring pass.

The Yellowjackets led 24-0 at intermission. Clarkdale scored two touchdowns, one on a Justin Goodwin 2-yard run in the third quarter and another on a Jerome Adkins 35-yard touchdown pass from Landon Gibson.

Union outgained Clarkdale in total yards, 448 to 219. Harris was 15 of 27 for 197 yards and a touchdown, and he also ran for 210 yards on 25 carries.

For Clarkdale, Gibson was 11 of 15 in passing for 125 yards and a touchdown. Adkins had 66 yards on three receptions. Defensively, Dilan Williams had seven tackles and two sacks for Clarkdale, while Union’s Hunter Little had five tackles, one assist and two tackles for loss, one of them being a sack.

Clarkdale (5-4, 1-2) will host Heidelberg High School next week, while Union (6-3, 2-1) will travel to Newton High School.

WEST LAUDERDALE 27, MENDENHALL 26

West Lauderdale High School’s Dennis Martin ran for two touchdowns as the Knights edged Mendenhall High School Friday night.

Larry Ross and Kurt Rackley also had scoring runs for the Knights, who led 20-12 at the half but trailed 26-20 at the end of the third.

West (7-2, 3-0) will play at Newton County High School next week.

KEMPER COUNTY 52, SOUTHEAST LAUDERDALE 0

Kemper County High School’s Eric Clark threw for four touchdowns and ran for one as the Wildcats blew past Southeast Lauderdale High School Friday night.

Otis Cross and D.J. Clayton each hauled in two touchdown passes, while Chandler Roberts ran for two scores.

Southeast (0-8, 0-3) will host Choctaw County High School next week, while Kemper County (6-2, 3-0) will play at Forest High School.

ENTERPRISE 28, HEIDELBERG 26

Derrick Moore had 164 rushing and three touchdowns for Enterprise High School as it edged Heidelberg High School Friday night.

Enterprise (7-2, 2-1) will host Bay Springs High School next week.
