Cardiac electrophysiology expert joins Internal Medicine Clinic

Internal Medicine Clinic is pleased to announce that cardiologist Attila Roka, MD, PhD, has joined the group as specialist in cardiac electrophysiology as of October this year.
The physician, trained at the teaching hospitals of Yale and Harvard Universities, will be the first in Meridian to perform catheter ablation, the only cardiac procedure that can be correctly called curative for certain heart rhythm disorders.
Dr. Roka is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine, and was a Fellow in cardiac electrophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was also a Fellow in cardiovascular disease at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. While at Yale, he received the Outstanding Yale Medical Student Teacher Award (Hospital of St. Raphael).
“We are excited that Dr. Roka will be bringing his expertise in catheter ablation to our service area, a first for our patients,” said John Eakes, IMC administrator.
Internal Medicine Clinic PLLC was founded in 1972 by Joel T. Callahan, MD; A. Gary Boone, MD; and Thomas H. Greer Jr., MD. Today, IMC is a comprehensive, multi-specialty clinic offering a wide array of health care services.
IMC has 18 physicians in its group practicing internal medicine, cardiology, family practice, gastroenterology, nephrology and pulmonary medicine, as well as nurse practitioners and more than 80 staff members. IMC is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and welcomes new patients.
