Air Evac flight nurse reaches career milestone

    Demopolis, Ala., flight nurse Courtney Townsend recently celebrated her 250th patient flight with Air Evac Lifeteam. Townsend has worked for Air Evac since March 2012.

    “I started working for Air Evac right after the Demopolis base opened in January 2012,” Townsend said. “Before coming to work for Air Evac, I worked in the emergency room and intensive care unit at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.”

    Townsend said the best part of being a flight nurse is making a difference in her patients’ lives.

    “Whether that’s holding their hand because they’re scared, or performing life-saving efforts, the look of gratitude and relief on their faces is unforgettable.”

    Air Evac Lifeteam, an air medical service, provides rapid access to definitive health care for those who live in medically underserved areas.
