Mason and Moore promoted at Citizens National Bank

Gordon Mason was recently promoted to the position of controller at Citizens National Bank.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Gordon received his Bachelor of Accountancy degree in 2001 and his Master of Accountancy degree in 2002. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and he is also a 1997 graduate of Meridian High School.

Mason joined the bank’s Accounting and Finance Department as assistant treasurer in 2012, with over nine years of experience in his area of expertise. His prior employment consisted of positions as a senior accountant with Charter Bank in West Point, Ga., as well as Colonial Bank in Montgomery, Ala., which was acquired by Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T) during his employment there. His earliest experience was gained through his employment with Grantham Poole in Jackson as an auditor, and with Kassouf & Company in Birmingham, Ala., as a tax accountant.
As CNB’s controller, Mason’s responsibilities will include the day to day supervision of the bank’s accounting department. In addition, he will be responsible for the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies, and he will supervise the Bank’s investment of funds.
A resident of Meridian, he is a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Houston Moore has been promoted to the position of vice president/internal auditor for the bank.
In this position, Moore will manage the overall internal and branch audit functions of the bank and coordinate all external audit engagements.
A graduate of Mississippi State University, Moore received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2002. He is also a 1998 graduate of Meridian High School.

Moore originally joined the bank in 2003 in the Officer Trainee Program and later served as a credit analyst in CNB’s Credit Administration Department. In 2006, he assumed a position with the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance as an examiner, and gained valuable experience as he conducted examinations of state-licensed mortgage companies and mortgage originators to evaluate their safety and soundness. Moore continued to serve in this capacity until May 2011, and rejoined CNB as a vice president and risk management officer in June of 2011.
He and his wife, Kasey, have 5-year old twin daughters, Stella and Sofie, and the family attends Northcrest Baptist Church. They are also residents of the Snell community.
