JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A group of nursing mothers has staged a protest inside a Jackson Target store after one of the mothers says she was not allowed to breastfeed her child inside a fitting room.

The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/1PhSg4L ) reports that approximately seven mothers on Monday staged what they called a “nurse-in,” in which they occupied dressing rooms and shopping space to breastfeed their children inside the Interstate 55 store.

Among them was Jazzmine McKee, who says she was told by an employee on Saturday that she must use a restroom to breastfeed her 11-month-old son.

Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder says employees are always instructed to leave breastfeeding mothers alone and to never direct them to a restroom.

McKee says a Target store manager called her after the protest to apologize for the situation.
