Celia Leigh Boggan and John Peyton Rohrer Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at half past six o’clock in the evening at Decatur United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bruce Taylor performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Charles and Debbie Boggan of Decatur. She is the granddaughter of Lola Addy and the late Cecil Addy and Iris Boggan and the late Dr. Austin Boggan all, of Decatur. The bridegroom is the son of John and Maretta Rohrer of Franklin, Tenn. He is the grandson of Mary Frances Hughes and the late Franklin Hughes of Starkville and the late Thomas and Lillian Rohrer of Denver, Colo.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a lace and tulle ball gown. Metallic thread embroidery and Swarovski crystals highlighted the lace. Beaded lace appliqués were scattered throughout the tulle skirt. Scalloped lace edged the hemline, ending in a chapel-length train. The bride wore her mother’s fingertip-length veil, which was designed by her maternal grandmother. Her broach bouquet was fashioned of special broaches belonging to her paternal grandmother, as well as the groom’s maternal great-grandmother.
Serving as matrons of honor were the bride’s sisters, Emily Thompson and Natalie May. Attending as bridesmaids were Calli Boggan, Sarah Breland, Amanda Gunasekara, Brittany Reed, Paige Richardson, Kelsey Tadlock and Claire Tadlock.
Bridesmaids wore variously styled floor-length gowns of red chiffon and carried hand-tied bouquets of white hydrangeas and roses accented with baby’s breath.
The bride’s nieces, Katherine May and Anna Lola May, were flower girls. Honorary bridesmaids were Hollie Breland and Shelby Smith.
Attending the groom as best men were his brothers, David Rohrer, Joshua Rohrer, Paul Rohrer, and Stephen Rohrer. Groomsmen were Matthew Boggan, Justin Griffin, Samuel Hawkins, Caleb May, Hal Thompson, and Stephen Wade. Ryan Monk and Lyle Reid served as ushers. The bride’s nephews, Hollis Thompson and Tyson Thompson, were ring bearers. Joel Hill and Lee Hill served as acolytes.
Vocalists were Colt Cleveland, Amanda Gunasekara, and Monica Smith. Musicians were Gloria Harms, Caleb May and Janet Thomas.
Lauren Addy presided at the guest register. Program attendants were Macy Joyner, Bella Grace Jones, Aubrey Jones and Reese Thoms.
The wedding was directed by Pat Anderson, Bettye Barnett and Pam Keith.
Following the ceremony, the bride and groom arrived at the reception in a vintage 1969 Camaro. The reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at the home of Michael and Ada McGrevey, aunt and uncle of the bride.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in honor of the couple at Pierce Castle.
After honeymooning in Jamaica, the couple resides in Decatur. The bride is a reading interventionist with the Newton County School System, and the groom is employed by Farm Bureau as an insurance agent.
