A man wanted on a charge of murder in the case of a missing Lauderdale County man turned himself in to authorities Wednesday morning.
Shaun Michael Gibbs, 26, walked into the Lauderdale County Detention Facility at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said.
Gibbs is in custody at the detention facility on a $250,000 bond.
Gibbs is one of three people facing charges in the disappearance of Michael Lane Mosley, who was reported missing by his parents June 24.
Mindy Brooke Weaver, 25, was arrested Friday and charged with murder. Also arrested Friday was Megan Rena Alexander, 29, who is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said last week although Mosley had not been located, information obtained by investigators indicates he is deceased and that his death was the result of foul play.
The last reported sighting of Mosley occurred in June when deputies were called to the community of Dalewood. A woman told deputies she had run away from a group of men and was hiding in the woods with a male, whom authorities said she later identified as Mosley.
Deputies searched the area for more than an hour but were unable to locate the man the woman said she was hiding with.
Calhoun said Wednesday the search continues for Mosley.
“We have got to get his body back to the family so they can have closure,” Calhoun said.
Sollie said last week more arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
“We do believe there may be additional individuals who have knowledge of this incident, and we will be pressing forward to bring those individuals to justice also,” Sollie said. “This case is far from over.”
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department at 601-482-9700 or Crime Stoppers at 855-485-TIPS.
