Calhoun said emergency officials responded to a call early Thursday evening about a man and an 8-year-old girl in distress in the water.

Calhoun said when first responders arrived on the scene, the girl had been pulled safely from the water.

“She was wearing a life preserver and we were told the man was not,” Calhoun said. “She was OK, and did not have to go to the hospital.”

The man was last seen struggling in the water. Multiple agencies have been searching the lake. The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is spearheading the effort.

Metro Ambulance, Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency and multiple fire departments responded to the call.
