Balderas said his office reviewed the case after the New York Times reported that a private law firm urged his predecessor to sue. Balderas decided to follow through with the suit, saying it’s in the best interest of New Mexicans.
Preferred Care said in a statement that the private law firm is pursing similar legal strategies against nursing homes with other attorneys general across the country.
The company says the care provided by its staff speaks for itself and that the facts will prevail.
