MCC salutes outstanding students

Awards night yields applause, congratulations

    Meridian Community College sophomore Wendy Zheng received the H.M. Ivy Award the college’s Awards Night program, held recently in the McCain Theater.

     Zheng, a graduating sophomore from Meridian, is a University Transfer Program student who plans to pursue a career in pharmacy.

     The H.M. Ivy Award is given to the most outstanding graduating sophomore. The recipient is active on campus and has shown a positive impact in the school and surrounding area.

     The Awards Night spotlighted students who excelled in various programs throughout the 2014-15 academic year.      In addition, Jones was recognized as the recipient of the Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished College Administrator. The award had been bestowed on her earlier at the PTK international conference held in Texas.

     In addition, students who tapped for the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges were also recognized.      Campus organizations were also saluted with the presentation of the B.G. Raden Memorial Award given to the top three outstanding groups. The groups named were Phi Beta Lambda Information Systems Technology, Phi Beta Lambda Business and Office Technology and Student Association of Dental Hygienists.
