Friendship Garden Club News

    Kay Smith has been elected president of the Friendship Garden Club for 2015.

    The announcement was made at the club’s February meeting, which was held at the historical antebellum home Merrehope in Meridian.

    Serving with Smith are: Norma Williams, vice president; Karen Scott, secretary/treasurer; Cathy Webb, reporter; Nell Goodman, parliamentarian; and Cheryl Shannon, historian.  

    Smith and Goodman were also elected to serve on the Membership Committee.

    Shannon presented the devotional “A New Way to Act When We Feel Offended.”

    Container gardens was the topic of the horticultural report, which focused on the right potting soil mix. Information was provided about different combinations of mixes for the type of flowers planted.

    It was noted that the tree the club decorated for the annual Trees of Christmas at Merrehope was featured on the cover of the holiday issue of 393 Magazine.

    After lunch and fellowship, the meeting adjourned.
