One person is dead and another injured following a shooting Sunday on Mosby Road, Meridian Police Department announced Monday.

Det. Chanetta Stevens, who serves as public information officer for MPD, said officers responded to the shooting around 7:15 p.m. at the Village Apartments. Two people were shot and transported to the hospital for treatment.

“Two victims sustained injuries, one victim succumbed to his injuries, the other victim has been treated and released from the hospital,” she said.

The shooting is under investigation, and MPD is asking the public to come forward with any information about the incident, Stevens said. Residents can call Meridian Police Department at 769-298-5111 or East Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 855-485-8477.

MPD also wants to extend its condolences to the family of the victim, Stevens said.
