GED Testing Service and Meridian Community College are for a short time offering free GED practice tests to students who are eligible to work toward their GED.

    Students who visit the Ralph E. Young, Jr. Center from Sept. 22-Oct. 3 on MCC’s campus can take free GED practice tests through the See For Free program sponsored by the GED Testing Service.  

    The program is to encourage more adult learners into centers that provide GED preparation classes for free, or at a very low cost. The practice test helps learners see if they are ready for the real GED test.

    GED Ready will give students an indication of their ability to pass the test, knowledge of the skills needed to pass the test and a personalized study plan detailing the pages and chapters to study.

    Students also can learn about classes and other resources to help them prepare for the test.

    The GED test has opened doors to better jobs and college programs for more than 19 million graduates since 1942, according to a college press release. Last year nearly 800,000 adults sat for the GED test, which is accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and employers, the press release states.

    As the creator of the one official GED test, GED Testing Service has a responsibility to ensure that the program continues to be a reliable and valuable pathway to a better life for the millions of adults without a high school diploma.
