Herrrington named MDA president

Meridian’s Dr. Eric Herrington will take office July 1 as the 149th president of the Mississippi Dental Association.

Herrington currently practices professionally as a periodontist in the Queen City area.

Following graduation from West Lauderdale High School in 1993, he attended Millsaps College and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1997. He continued his education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry where he also earned a postdoctoral certificate in periodontology and implantology.

Herrington has been an active member of the Mississippi Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology.

For 15 years he has served as the president of the Meridian Area Dental Society and has also served as the Mississippi representative to the American Academy of Periodontology’s State and Regional Assembly Commission. This involved being a liaison between Mississippi periodontists and the American Academy of Periodontology.

Herrington also served the MDA District III Dental Society for six years as the secretary/treasurer. Locally, he is a member of several civic organizations, as well as alumni council to the UAB School of Dentistry.
