    • “Country Alcoholics Anonymous” meets each Thursday at 7:30 p.m. out Highway 493 North, past the Bailey post office. Veer left on to GumLog Road, 1/2 mile to club house by baseball field on right. For information call (601) 737-2463.

    • 6 p.m. — The International Singing Brakeman Association meets every third Thursday at the Best Western Hospitality Room on Frontage Road. Please bring a snack/dish to share. We will eat at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5. For more information, call Glyn Jones at (601) 581-1601.

    • Otha Barham plays guitar and sings easy listening music each Thursday from 2 to 4 at the Daily Grind, 4820 Poplar Springs Drive.

Aug. 11-16

    St. Matthew M.B. Church in Shubuta will have its annual Homecoming and Revival Services Aug. 11-16 beginning at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The evangelist speaker will be the Rev. Darren Chapman, pastor of Philadelphia M.B. Church in Buckatunna.

Aug. 12-16

    7:30 p.m. — The public is invited to attend a Fall Revival during the week of Aug. 12 through Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The revival will take place at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 4126 York Road in Lauderdale, Miss. The guest speaker is Pastor James Granger of Union Baptist Church in Scooba and Mt. Herman Baptist Church in York, Ala. A homecoming will take place Sunday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. with Minister Robert Alford of St. Paul Baptist Church in Russell serving as the guest speaker.

Aug. 16-17

    7 a.m. to 2 p.m. — MAW monthly garage sale will take place at 10165 Lynwood Drive in Tanglewood Estates. New items each month and everything is priced to sale. Clothes, shoes, purses, 50 cents each. Books 25 cents each, household items, toys and even a bilateral prosthesis, size 36 B that has been donated will be for sale. Saturday, Aug. 17    

    9 a.m. — The Ainsworth-Gunter reunion will be held at the Dixie Electric Power Association, 1863 Highway 184 East in Laurel beginning at 9 a.m.

    11 a.m. — The annual Collins reunion will be Saturday Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. until  at Pine Grove Church in the House community. All friends and relatives are invited to come fellowship and bring a covered dish.

Sunday, Aug. 18

    4:30 p.m. — The Student Ministry of Central UMC is sponsoring Pax Meridian. Featuring Colt Cleveland, Alex Michael Band, Sarah Margaret Huff and special guest Gypsy. Event will be held on 11th Street between 22nd and 23rd Avenues. Music begins at 6 p.m. $10 advance, $12 at the door.

Monday, Aug. 19

    5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. — Registration for Colored Pencil Techniques class with Don Shaffer at Meridian Activity Center, 3300 32nd Ave. Phone for information, 601-485-1812.

    6:30 p.m. — NorthPark Church will conduct Griefshare on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. starting Aug. 19.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

    2-3 p.m. — United Auto Workers Retiree Chapter No. 2185 will meet at the Meridian Activity Center, 3300 32nd Ave. Contact George 601-737-5266.

    6:30 p.m. — The Disabled American Veterans Chapter and DAVA Unit 56 will have it’s monthly meeting starting with a pot luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting shortly thereafter. Wednesday, Aug. 21st

    6:30 p.m. — DivorceCare is a 13-part series that begins Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at NorthPark Church. DivorceCare helps group members apply biblical principles as they heal from the hurt of separation and divorce. Throughout the videos and workbook, participants see how the gospel brings hope and restoration. The support group can share in a safe and confidential environment. A $40 donation is suggested to cover the costs of workbooks, materials and the facility.
