Special to The Star
Bridgette Ellis, RN for Sta-Home Health: Newton volunteered her time, vacation and talents to serve as a nurse on a medical mission trip to Haiti.
Participating with a Mission Organization by the name of BUT God Ministries of Jackson, Ellis partnered with a team of six to perform a variety of tasks. She worked for the week providing breathing treatments and delivering babies, amongst other tasks.
The total team of six members from Mississippi included: Jimmy Hollingsworth of Lake; Allison Edmonds of Lake; Ted Jones of Lake; Abbie Odom of Meridian; Scott Reeves of Pelahatchie; and Cindy Mixon of Lake. They provided very needed services to the people of Haiti, organizers said.
“Sta-Home is proud of the work and talents of our clinicians, and it is with that same pride that we are able to serve Mississippians daily. It is a unique opportunity for one of our own to take her talents abroad, and we are proud of the work she does for her community, but moreover her missional work with the people of Haiti”, said Susan Triplett, RN Administrator for Sta-Home.
“It was a wonderful eye opening trip, but it sure is good to be finally home sweet home,” Ellis said..
The team returned to Mississippi on Nov. 10 after spending a week in service to others.
Sta-Home is a Mississippi home health and hospice provider and serves 46 counties within the state, including Newton, Scott and Lauderdale counties.
