The two teams are the only undefeated teams in the poll and both came off of dominating performances over the weekend with East Mississippi taking down previously rated No. 4 Jones County Junior College, 61-24, on Saturday and Georgia Military easily handling Lackawanna College, 63-18, on Sunday.

East Mississippi made up ground on Georgia Military by earning a fourth first-place vote in this week’s poll but was not able to overtake the Bulldogs for for the No. 1 spot. Both teams are expected to be invited to play for the national championship in the Mississippi Bowl on Dec. 8 when NJCAA bowl bids are announced Tuesday.

No. 3 Iowa Western Community College (11-1), idle last week, needed a loss from either Georgia Military or East Mississippi to earn a spot in the national title game and remained at the third spot this week.

Jones County (9-2) fell four places to No. 8 following its loss to East Mississippi. In total, the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges placed five teams in the rankings as No. 9 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, No. 11 Copiah Lincoln Community College and No. 14 Hinds Community College rounded out the poll.
