The Rev. and Mrs. Robert H. Horel were feted at an intimate gathering for their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013. The couple were married on Sept. 6, 1963, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tenn. by the Rev. Dr. Clyde Fouchee. Mrs. Horel is the former Elaine Phillips. The celebration was hosted by their three children and their spouses, Rob and Lucinda Horel, Phil and Sara Horel and Jennifer and Dr. Lee Armistead. The Horels have eight grandchildren. Rev. Horel served as pastor at First Presbyterian Church for 22-plus years. Upon his retirement in 2001, the Horels still reside in Meridian.
