A Mississippi man, whose father died after he punched him during a family vacation in Orlando, Fla., is now charged with manslaughter in the death.

Officials with the Orange County, Fla., Sheriff’s Department, say 21-year-old Taylor Harris will be picked up sometime next week.

Fifty-two-year-old Leonard Dwayne Harris, a Pearl firefighter, died July 17 at a Jackson, Miss., hospital.

His death came less than 24 hours after being flown back to Mississippi from Florida, where he had been in critical condition at an Orlando hospital since an altercation outside a restaurant on July 7.

Taylor Harris was initially charged with aggravated battery and domestic violence. The charges were upgraded after the elder Harris’ death. He had been free on bond. He is being held in the Rankin County jail.
