A 31-year-old Lafayette man, who police believe carjacked a woman last week and then used a handgun to rob a bank, has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

Authorities tell The Advocate Justin Reed Seawright, who was found with the stolen car at a motel in Bay St. Louis, Miss., just before midnight on July 18 was transported back to Lafayette early Monday.

Capt. Kip Judice, with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, says Seawright remains in jail waiting for an initial court appearance and for a judge to set his bond.

Agents with the U.S. Marshal’s Office raided a motel in Bay St. Louis on July 18 and found Seawright in a room.
