More than 15 years after his arrest, a Marion County man has been indicted on a capital murder charge in relation to a shooting in 1993.
The Hattiesburg American reports James K. Polk Jr., now 41, was 26 when he was arrested on a capital murder charge in 1996. He was indicted last week, according to a press release from the attorney general’s office.
He is accused of the Aug. 25, 1993, shooting death of 18-year-old Kimberly Rowell.
Authorities say Rowell was found naked outside Columbia Primary School the next day with eight 9 mm gunshot wounds.
It was not immediately clear whether Polk has an attorney.
