Services for Joseph Christian Miller, III will be held Monday, February 13, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joe Anderson officiating. Burial will be in MS Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Newton, MS.
Mr. Miller, 73, of Meridian, died Monday, February 6, 2012, in Edinburg, TX.
Mr. Miller was born on July 11, 1938, in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from St. Paul’s School in 1956 in Covington, LA. He has lived in Meridian 40 years. Mr. Miller began his military service in the U.S. Navy in 1956. He retired in 1975. Mr. Miller served on aircraft carrier “Kitty Hawk”. After retiring from the Navy he worked 20 years with Chevron/Angola Fields. He was a Mason, enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, hiking, camping and identifying wild flowers. Mr. Miller will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Joy May Miller; sons, Joseph (Chris) Miller, IV of Vicksburg, MS, Leonard (Lenny) Miller and his wife Carolyn of North Dakota, Jeffrey Miller and his wife Carole of Hattiesburg, MS; daughter, Georgia Ann James and her husband Donald of Hunstville, AL; step-daughters, Sheila Coward and her husband Jimmy of St. Louis, MO, Charie Lizak and her husband Richard of Meridian, MS; grandchildren, Holly Watts and her husband Lee of Hattiesburg, MS, Dusty Miller and his wife Courtney of Meridian, MS, Jenni Miller of Covington, LA, Cameron Miller of Dublin, CA, Colton Miller of Vicksburg, MS, Heather and Nicholas James of Huntsville, AL; great-grandchildren, AnnaLee, Hayden, Abby and Madi; step-grandchildren, Brooke Coward of Bosie, ID, Melissa and James Coward of St. Louis, MO, Megan Lizak of Meridian, MS, Ashley McAdory of Vance, AL, Jonathan Bullock of Hattiesburg, MS, Sarah Bullock of Hattiesburg, MS; sister, JoAnn Carlton of Covington, LA; brother, Mark Miller and his wife Terry of Covington, LA; aunt, Margery Ermert of Madisonville, LA; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. Miller, Jr. and Amelia Eiffert Miller; brother, Floyd Miller; paternal grandparents, Joseph C. Miller, Sr. and Anna Kenner Miller; maternal grandparents, John Eiffert, Jr. and Josephine Reichelt Eiffert.
The family request memorials be made to the Care Lodge, Salvation Army and Love’s Kitchen.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Miller, Colton Miller, Nick James, Donald James, Frank Carlton and Joseph Relle.
