Mr. Floyd, Miss Brewer

    Mr. and Mrs. James C. Brewer Jr. of Shubuta announce the engagement of their daughter, Claire Lynn, to Ian Eli Floyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay R. Johnson and the late Craig Floyd of Magee.

    The wedding will be Saturday, May 7, 2011, on the front lawn of the Rogers-Green House in Laurel.

    Miss Brewer is the granddaughter of Mrs. James C. Brewer of Shubuta and the late Mr. Brewer, and Mrs. Morris R. Jones of Quitman and the late Mr. Jones.

    The bride-elect received a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a graduate of Quitman High School.

    While at USM, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

    Miss Brewer is employed by Manhattan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson as activity director.

    Mr. Floyd is the grandson of Mrs. Etta Ree Floyd and the late Mr. Howard E. Floyd, and Mrs. Betty Cole, and the late Mr. O. G. Cole, all of Magee.

    The bridegroom-elect received a master’s degree in geology from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is a graduate of Magee High School.

    While at USM, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

    Mr. Floyd is employed by the Army Corps of Engineers at the Engineering Research and Development Center in Vicksburg.
