Ms. Kandy Lau of Atlanta, Ga. announces the engagement of her daughter, Lindy, to Michael Joseph Busbee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Henry Busbee of Meridian. Miss Lau is also the daughter of the late Tommy Lau of Atlanta.
The wedding will be Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colo.
Miss Lau is the granddaughter of the late Ms. Ann Strickland and Mr. Roger C. Strickland of Jacksonville, Fla.
The bride-elect attended the University of Alabama, where she majored in human environmental science and received a bachelor of science degree in health studies with a minor in nutrition in 2006. She is a 2001 graduate of St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta.
Miss Lau was recently accepted into the Denver Teacher Residency Program in Denver, Colo. The program is in partnership with the University of Denver, where Miss Lau will receive her master’s degree in elementary education. She will perform her one-year residency in the Denver Public School System during the 2011-12 school year.
Mr. Busbee is the grandson of Mrs. Pauline Simmons Busbee and the late the Rev. Westley Floyd Busbee Sr. of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Maxey Baker Sr. of Madison.
The bridegroom-elect attended the University of Alabama, where he majored in marketing and received a bachelor of science degree in commerce and business administration in 2005. He graduated with honors from Meridian High School in 2001.
Mr. Busbee is currently a sales representative in Highlands Ranch, Colo., with The McGinnis Lumber Company, Inc. of Meridian.
A reception will be held at the Red Rocks Visitor Center following the ceremony.
